WINTERSUN 2009 29th May to 8th June 2009
WINTERSUN 2010 is planned for 4th to 14th June - Coolangatta / Tweed
Australia's Leading Rock & Roll Nostalgia Retro Event....
Wintersun is now on - some of the highlights include......
Wintersun Street Parade of floats, bands and fun on Saturday 6th June starting in North Kirra at 9:45 AM and travelling along Marine Parade to Greenmount, Coolangatta.
Hot Rod, Classic & Custom Car Show in the parks and streets of Coolangatta with about 1500 cars on show all day Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th June.
Live entertainment in the parks and streets of Coolangatta with about 80 bands and performers all day Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th June.
Hot Rod, Classic & Custom Car cruises on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th June from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM cruising the beachfront from North Kirra and travelling along Marine Parade to Greenmount, Coolangatta.
Wintersun 2009 starts on Friday 29th May and ends with the huge Best of Wintersun Concert on Monday 8th June. Wintersun is Australia's leading annual Retro Nostalgia Festival. Featuring almost 1500 Hot Rods, Custom and Classic Cars, more than 100 bands and performers, dancing, movies, and competitions. The festival is held in the border coastal towns of Coolangatta and Tweed Heads on the New South Wales & Queensland border. Many events are free, some are in the streets while others are in the local clubs and shopping centres.

Merchandise Sites - We have finalised the 2009 merchandise layout and information will be posted to past stall holders on 6 October, bookings open on 13 October for Optimal Vendors and new stall holders from 27 October. RECENT UPDATES: Ticketed entertainment is now all listed on our tickets ans entertainment pages (free entertainment will be listed very soon. 2009 Merchandise is now available from our on line shop (click on Shop on the left and then select merchandise for the latest and greatest range at pre festival discount prices.
CHANGES FOR 2009
We are now reviewing all aspects of the festival:
The following areas are being considered:
GRIFFITH STREET: Gold Coast Police, Council and retailers seem to be generally happy with the concept of using Griffith Street as a car display and entertainment area while sill allowing traffic. We are finalising traffic plans now.
STREET PARADE: Parade is back for 2009.
CAR CRUISES: We are delighted with the 2009 route.
BANDS & ENTERTAINMENT: We are no longer accepting suggestitions and submissions for performers for 2009 - if you are in a band or would like to suggest an act please email us at any time, we will begin the 2010 programme selection in August.
FUTURE: We are discussing a variety of options for 2010 to 2015 including taking the festival to a different town each year. If your town would like to host a Wintersun Festival at some time in the future please contact us for more details. Our intention is always to give at least 12 months notice of any move - we will announce details of Wintersun 2010 in our official programme due out on May 18th.
